Officials say no one was seriously hurt when a riser collapsed while a student choir was performing at a North Dakota mall.
The choir from Carl Ben Eielsen Middle School was performing Thursday night in Fargo when the three-step, 2-foot-high riser collapsed, turning singing into screams. Nearly 50 students were on the risers.
West Acres Mall Manager Rusty Papachek says officials are looking into what happened, and the risers won’t be used again this season. New risers have been brought in for groups who have holiday performances scheduled.
Papachek says any medical claims will be directed to the mall’s insurance company. School administrative assistant Peggy Johnson told The Forum that the school isn’t aware of any serious injuries, just soreness, and the choir was performing at the mall Friday.
