This is the kind of bull that has attributed to the economic situation we are in. People can and will sue over any ridiculous thing and companies have to defend against the bogus claims or pay out nuisance value. The lawyers get richer and the companies are faced with more hardship and then employees get laid off and so on and so on.
So the guy has racked up 45.00 in drink coupons that he obviously has no intention of using? This would indicate he has flown at least 9 times without using any of the coupons. So what’s the beef? If you are flying Southwest and feel like you would like a cocktail on that flight it is made available to you for free. What’s the purpose of stock piling them, other than to comp a drink for the pretty lady sitting next to you that did not pay the upgrade for business class. Get a life!
Obviously, neither Southern Adjuster nor Mary French fly Southwest enough to understand the underlying issue. Free flights under SW’s Rapid Rewards program are transferable but can not be sold. Such is not the case for the drink coupon booklet. So, if you happen to have more free flights than you can use, you can offer to sale, like on e-Bay, a drink coupon booklet and give away a flight in order to recoup some of your flying costs. SW has now come up with a way to eliminate a practice that has been around for a long time. Besides, the free flights have such severe blackout dates and times, they are a bit of a joke anyway. I say, sue the b..tards.
Actually I do fly Southwest and quite often. I am a rapid rewards member and have earned numerous free flights. One thing Southwest advertises is there are “no blackout dates”. Also the drink coupon books previously came in the mail. I think you are confusing the drink coupon books with the business select benefits. If you purchase business select you receive one premium drink coupon, in addition to other perks. Again what’s the beef? It’s free and they are still offering the free drink to him. Pretty sad when people will sue over something that was given to them for FREE!
Levitt is probably representing himself and has too much time on his hands. If the judge had any common sense he’d have thrown this $225 suit out of court. If the airline had any common sense they’d have paid this jerkoff and saved a lot of attorney fees.
