Appalled by ashamed, you are right, these people who make these dumb comments have never been thru anything like this. Some people are so quick to judge others without knowing the circumstances. Such a shame that we have people like this. Good luck to your family.

Pay attention RAL. I have been through it. My home was badly damaged in a flood. I did not have flood insurance even though my insurance agent urged to to do so. That was my choice and I had to suffer the consequences. I don’t expect taxpayers to pick up the tab for my own stupidity or to clean up the mold or to repalce all of my belongings. These whiners and their compassionate supporters need to get a grip on reality.

Cometalia, you may not expect taxpayers to pick up the tab, but if offered, you will accept. Besides, some of these people were not required to have flood insurance and some could not get flood insurance because communities opt out of program. You may not be a whiner, but I still say we should not complain regarding helping our own people, we may need the help one day.

RAL, you are mistaken. In years past I refused public assistance when I was out of work and that was a strong motivation to find a new job. Like I said I declined flood insurance when it was offered so my loss is my fault. End of sentence. Period.
