Did these people not understand that men’s and women’s programs must be treated equally? And that part of equality is access to all the other stuff you don’t provide – such as scouting opportunities? It’s pretty simple – if your programs don’t look very similar you need to either change them or get rid of them.

It amazes me that there are people out there that just don’t get it. This isn’t difficult stuff people.

They oughta sue the college fans that don’t turn out in the same numbers to watch field hockey as they do to watch football.

They should sue CBS for getting higher ratings for March Madness than the women’s tournament (March PMS?) gets.

They should sue the NFL for having no female players.

MLB oughta be forced to integrate. Which girl wants to be the first to be hit by a pitch?

And so on. This was once a free country.

After reading the article, I still can’t put my finger on what the violation was? Are they upset because the girls high school basketball/volleyball season wasn’t on at the same time that the girls college season? So what?

I’m pretty sure that magnanamous attorney with “most of the money” will be willing to turn right around and donate “most of the money” to the girls basketball teams as a show of support. Opps, wrong planet. Sorry.

Their problem seems to be in the whole scouting/recruiting thing. Since scouts are out and about during the “normal” season, if the school doesn’t hold to the “normal” season their girls miss out on scouting opportunities that the boys, whose season I’m assuming is “normal”, are getting.

Maybe they should cancel all the dam sports anyway at this point.

Where the hell do they think all this money is going to come from? Probably from mens sports.

You know, the ones people actually care about.

But they aren’t competing against the boys. What advantage does this bass ackwards scheduling give to the boys vis a vis the girls?

I’m telling you, given the right (or wrong) circumstances (like Hellary or Barack Hussein Obama appointing justices to the SCOTUS), someday ALL sports will be forced to integrate women and men onto the same teams.

The advantage it gives to the boys is that the boys get to have scouts at their games and get to be recruited – and the girls don’t. The girls are therefore disadvantaged in relation to the boys which is a violation of Title IX.

I’d be all for getting rid of sports at high schools and public universities. They don’t provide academic value and use money that could go to a better education. Sports have their place, but if they are going to continue causing such a distraction and waste of money they can just go away.

I know it’s obvious, but I wasn’t a jock. Just figured I’d get that out in the open for some reason.

Down, all you right-wingers, down! These girls sports are fun to watch and fairness dictates that boys and girls be treated the same.

That said, the court got it just plain wrong. My daughter plays high school volleyball in Michigan. Talk to the girls’ VB community, and they will tell you that they liked the flipped season because college coaches had more free time to scout Michigan’s girls. Ditto women’s basketball. The girls, their families and the coaches HATE this change. But some people in Grand Rapids whose daughters went to school ten years ago must be happy.

I think a good followup suit would be to compare the amount of money spent on sports verses fine arts programs. When an athletic director at the high school level can be paid as much as the acedemic dean something is really wrong. When the same position at the college level may pay more the your doctor earns you can see where the values are. The big opportunities are to so small a number of all the athletes. I would spend my dollars on educating the student acedemically. Sports should be 100% intramural through college. I know we will hear from those grown men who continue to live out their fantasies through sports figures.
