I love my mom, and if I hurt myself while on a visit to her, I don\’t think I would even sue. It\’s silly. I\’m 26 and I hate seeing frivolous lawsuits. Besides as it is there\’s plenty of household repairs that need to be done and I\’m careful, and you can\’t take snow and ice forgranted. They can hide things. This daughter is just being nasty.

Let\’s see, most attorneys will get 40% which leaves Mom and daughter dearest to get 30% each. It looks like the attorney made out the best. Let\’s not be totally blind, I\’m sure Mom & her daughter are planning the shopping spree.

You just have to love this business.

\”Maybe the carrier denied the claim believing it to be bogus.\” — That\’s what juries are for, to find the truth. As usual, these articles don\’t give the entire story, just the sensational headlines. The insurance company probably did deny the claim. What else is new? Companies always try to find a way out of paying. My guess is that the daughter didn\’t have her own medical insurance and is only looking for her bills to be paid.
The article doesn\’t say how much she\’s looking for.

I am all for insurance companies denying bogus claims! Jack, don\’t paint your brush with such broad strokes. Most claims are settled quickly and properly. The problem is, you never hear about the 99.5% of these claims since they went smoothly. You only hear about the .5% that don\’t.

I want my federal taxes back that were spent on this kind of stupid stuff!! Hope we find out the result in a future news article. Oh, and Jack, you are right, it doesn\’t give enough detail, but I\’ll bet everyone else is dead on in their comments.

You guys don\’t get it. The mom and daughter are in this together. There is an attorney somewhere that has advised them that Moms\’ HO Liability coverage will pay for daughters medicals, etc. Mom is not going to be out anything, and probably will enjoy a portion of the settlement. She has admitted her liability.

Don\’t most HO policies include medical payments? Can\’t a person continue to work with a broken ankle?

Maybe the daughter could have helped to de-ice the driveway in the morning to help out her folks.

Let\’s hope somebody with more than a 1/3 of their brain function uncovers how the mommy/daughter team worked out this one. I\’m guessing they took a page out of the \”I put hot coffee between my legs and got burned lawsuit that yielded the grandma a million bucks from McDonalds.\” If the courts don\’t throw out these bogus claims and lawyers don\’t refuse to take them (surprise), then maybe society should take a lesson from the Amish. Shun the blood suckers. Anyone who knows these losers and isn\’t in on the scam send them a message. What you\’re doing isn\’t ok. Remember how well peer pressure worked in high school?

Let\’s see how big ol bad Walmart tries to push their way through this like they are always pushing their way into towns and neighborhoods that do not want them. I hope they do not win, they do not need to start trying to oust banks and credit unions like they like to do to other businesses.
