Warren is probably right about gram errors – o/w he errs (so I think):
    1. Respect for others, who risk their lives fighting, shouldn’t be dragged in a discussion. As a wounded veteran of WW2 I think this elementary.
    2. Muslim fundamentalists did not pop-out of nowhere, but were deliberately created by US Cold warriors (even prior to Afghanistan). Find out who led the “Rollback” on the US side (W’s Dad) & who sent Ossama to US Army training camps.
    3. UN weakness is due to US policy – see how the Kyoto agreement was unilaterally revoked by W, just as the Republicans revoked Wilson’s signature on the League of Nations covenant.

    Shhh.

Your partisan hatred will only prove your ignorance more and more with each posting.

There were a good many resons for the League of Nations being a flop…beyond the US not joining:
    1)It lacked any armed forces.
    2)Unanimous vote was required.
3)A number of major countries – other than the US – were not included:
    a) Germany was a member only between 1926 and 1933.
    b) Japan and Italy began as permanent members, but left in 1932 and 1937, respectively.
    c) The USSR joined only in 1934, and was expelled on December 14, 1939 for aggression, after it invaded Finland.
4)Ineffectuality in specific situations, notably the mid-1930s crisis over Italy’s invasion of Abyssinia.
4)A non-permanent council and assembly made for slow decisions.
5)The most important members protected their respective self-interests.

POP QUIZ: What other worldwide political organization also suffers from such typically human foibles as dilatory response times, acting according to self-interests and ineffectuality in specific situations? (Hint: Initials are UN!)

    A “delicate” system indeed! ;-)

PS Jacob: Human nature is not attributable to any political party, nation or religion. It’s a universal problem!

I am sitting with my 94 year old mother-in-law and asked her where was she when she heard the 1st WW ended. She replied that her dad, a farmer in PA, was taking her to town in a horse drawn wagon about noon when friends stopped him and informed him the war was over. A little later the town fire sirens began sounding. She was eight years old at the time.

Dear dear Lee, is it really you? Can I come up for the alter call? I can’t join in the debate, but would like to wave in your direction.

All I can say to your post is, Hear Hear!
