    We should be careful what we wish, for it may be granted. Despite payments to providers being down, total costs continue to rise. The proliferation of “middlemen” arranging every detail of treatment, denying it where possible, costs more than providing the treatment did.

    As carriers pay the providers less, we have less access to providers. In NorCal, most specialists in almost every specialty are refusing WC patients. When accepted, it takes weeks or months to get in. Once a provider no longer accepts Workers Compensation, they don’t generally come back.
