Do we want all those uninsured drivers (who are mostly poor), using their food money for auto insurance and going on food stamps? (those that are eligible can do this).

Do we want uninsured drivers to use their rent money for auto insurance and going delinquent on their rent?

There is nothing in mandatory auto insurance for the poor. Why not give them a candy bar with their insurance policy so they can have something they can use.

Poor people do not buy any type of insurance. That is a fact of life. If you are going to somehow force them to pay 30% of their paycheck on auto insurance (that would be the insurance for a household of three teens), you will end up with more homeless, more on food stamps,, more down to the food bank, more robberies, more burglaries, more stolen license plates, more stolen cars, more homeless. If you protect your own vehicle (as the insurance company suggests), you will not have all the above mayhem. It is called GREED!!!!!!

So Don, what is you solution?

It appears that you are looking to either provide free insurance for the poor or move to a no-fault system. The no-fault system would be patently unfair unless the statues forbids any lawsuits or recovery by uninsured drivers or vehicle owners, and also prohibits 3rd party suits by passenger in uninsured vehicles.
