The cause of the second boardwalk disaster was carlesssness and greed on the part of city government and local merchants. They were determined to open in time for the 2013 summer season (when they make all their money)that they neglected to inspect the electrical system below the boardwalk for salt water damage casued by Sandy. Where were the state and city inspectors? That decision to short-cut the intial re-building cost the state and taxpayers tens of millions of dollars. Shame on the state and city of Seaside Heights. It’s their own fault.
