Police in Delaware issued more than 2,000 tickets to drivers in a crackdown on using handheld cellphones behind the wheel.
The Department of Highway Safety says the tickets were issued over two weeks earlier this month in the second wave of a campaign dubbed “Phone in One Hand, Ticket in the Other.”
Combined with the first wave of the campaign, almost 4,200 tickets have been issued in Delaware. The third wave is set for June.
Last year, Delaware law enforcement agencies issued more than 13,000 cellphone citations statewide.
