A state police fire marshal is trying to find whoever set fire to seven buildings or vehicles in one north-central Pennsylvania county since May.
Trooper Greg Asosti tells the Bradford Era the fires began on May 30 when someone set a fire on the rear porch of a woman’s home in Ridgway. The most recent fire was Saturday in nearby St. Marys where another woman’s home was set on fire.
In between, five other fires have been set, all of them in Ridgway, St. Marys or Johnsonburg, a trio of towns in Elk County, about 100 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
Agosti won’t say if police have any suspects, but says he’s investigating each fire individually but also keeping an open mind about whether any or all of the fires might be related.
