The family of a Taunton High School student injured running away from a teacher wearing a mask and wielding what appeared to be a chain saw for a Halloween prank is seeking up to $100,000 in compensation for medical expenses.
An attorney for the family says he has sent the city a letter indicating he will file a lawsuit if the matter isn’t resolved within the next six months.
The lawyer says the 15-year-old boy suffered a fractured bone and serious knee injuries after tripping over a chair while trying to run away last Oct. 29. The boy was on crutches for months and had to give up participating in sports.
A city lawyer tells the Taunton Daily Gazette he is reviewing whether insurance will pay for the damages.
