You have it exactly right Lee. Med Mal today is let’s make a deal. Insurers will “settle” rather than go to trial, and the suits that have no merit snap up the settlement option. So if a Dr has a suit filed against him which is totaly unjustified, the carrier stillmight settle it for 10K to 20K to avoid defense expenses. That shows up on the CT website and the unwashed masses think the Dr has a real malpractice history.
