if this was a construction/repair company, they should have had a firewatch… where was the safety equipment? it should not have caused that much damage if they were properly safely prepared… i can see it now, that the company going to owe a big fine and restitution for the school and for having to get the kids in school at a temp school because of this inconvenience.

Bet he was just trying to warm some T&G roofing to reach the underlayment to repair it & forgot the extinguisher since it was so cold.
It may not be covered. Maybe they purchased a cheap policy via E&S and it had a “Torch Down” EXCLUSION???
Of course, they could have been simply using the torch to light their cigarettes, if that was the case, COVERAGE APPLICABLE!
