In other news, Lorillard Tobacco countersued the parents for their absolute lack of parenting skills, guidance and observation.

instead of awarding millions to those addicted to tobacco, why not ask/reguire the tobacco companies to pay for a cessation program for those who wish to stop. i stopped 6 years ago after smoking for 45 years. the nicotine gum worked for me. they could use the money saved in attorneys fees to fund the whole program!

Really?? Why should a tobacco company pay to help consumers to stop using their product? Do beer manufacturers pay for AA classes, so that consumers can stop purchasing their products? Nope, nada, not happening. Free cigarettes passed to 9 yr olds? What I what to know is what ever happened to personal accountability? Or better yet, who gave a 9 yr matches?

Agree. Personal responsibility is the key issue but that concept is all but dead in this country. Every idiot who does something stupid want to exhonerate themself by suing someone else and making money at the same time. Common sense should tell you that taking a nasty substance like tobacco, wrapping it in paper, setting it afire, then sucking the smoke into your lungs is not a bright idea. But then, it was a fad and people wanted to be cool. IF there are awards, they should no go to enrich these idiots and their families. Education on the hazards of smoking has been available for at least a decade, if not longer. People have no excuse for not quitting.

Is this what America has turned into. I choose to start smoking and got addicted. It isn’t my fault, the evil tobacco company forced me to do it so let’s sue them. If the judge rules in favor of the plantiff, the whole legal system should be flushed down the toilet.

What I don’t understand is how Lorillard was supposedly targeting black smokers?

Tim……..the legal system is a toilet. Judges are mindless, juries subjective, and attorneys keep getting rich. And the beat goes on ………..unless you’re a minority then the rules change.

While your at it, sue the Movie companies for glamorizing it, sue the stores for selling it, and then sue yourself for being the brain donor that bought it.
