Now everybody gets to enjoy a rate increase instead of just those filing the claims.

Let the market dictate these matters!

Some companies (including Travelers & Peerless) have already compensated for this in their new multi-tiered rating system that lets them re-tier for any claims whether they are at fault or not. Peerless even up-tiers for Comprehensive claims over $1000. So if you get rear-ended you might still get a 20% increase when you are up-tiered. Not Fair

Here in MA you get 3 points on your license if you CAUSE $500 in property damage. You get 4 points if you cause $1500 in damage. The points stay on your record in MA for 6 Years! It’s a very punitive system and it’s percentage based not a set amount per point. Therefore if you live in a city like Boston rather than a suburb like Andover your 3 points might cost you $600 per year while in Andover the same 3 points will be $178. Not very fair… you get points for any ticket including expired inspection stickers and broken tail lights. And, they all last for 6 years!
