IF the states start to fear being held responsible for these monsters that they keep putting back on the streets, maybe they’ll think twice before they do it.
Sorry they can’t hold the judges that do it personally responsible for a percentage.
That $20M to Jaycee should make at least one or two think before commuting another sentence.

We prosecute and sentence based on actual provable crimes committed, not crimes which might have been committed or might be committed in the future.

Do you really want judges and prosecutors locking people up solely to lessen the chance they might later be sued?

Our government already claimed the right to indefinite preventitive detention — in fact, the soon-to-be SCOTUS justice Kagan was the solicitor general arguing in favor of it!

It is the politics of fear that has emboldened the ever-expanding government to take such extreme measures.

Matt, Your must look at the world through kaleidoscope lens. It is not the fact that any other charges were allegations, at the time, but the point goes to this individual being readily willing to demonstrate his ability to NOT conform to society with his violent behaviors.

I want judges and prosecutors to keep violent criminals locked up. Sue me for that.
Jaycee would have led a normal life if the monster that took her had been held to his original sentence of 50 years.

The enemy is not these criminals. It’s the damn liberals that keep fighting the rest of us for criminal rights! And that 20 million settlement is way too large! California is $30 billion in debt! The criminals, judges and even the liberals are not going to pay for this. The taxpayers are! We are sooo screwed!
