Something’s drastically wrong when the attorney’s cut is 58,600,000 for arguing a point. There’s built in incentive to inflate the value of a claim to make more money. If they want to exploit human tragedy, let them take the case for a contingent fee not linked to the outcome. Let them have to keep track of their hours worked and receive a decent hourly rate of 1,000 just like defense firms.
One would think that the wonderful benevolent attorneys would want to reduce their fees so the victims & their families would have more of the award. Nah, that wouldn’t work, would it?
