now, if the average kid gets $202k, then if you look at the total package, the lawyer fees will add up to approximately $58 mil. funny, how the lawyers wind up with more money than the kids. in this case, the lawyers should have wound with only 1/30 and not 1/3 of the money. if you look at this how is $200k, enough for the kids? it might be enough for their continued education into college, but what about until then? who’s paying for clothes, food, roof over their heads, etc? this is why the lawyers win! the extra money can be set aside for a trust fund for the extra expenses these kids will need. the new families housing them, may or may not have enough funds, so i hope they are recieving assistance from the feds or state.

It is shameful that anyone should PROFIT due to a tragedy like this, as if the court couldn’t come up with a way to identify who should be included in the settlement and set the individual amounts. I don’t know of one damned plaintiff’s attorney who is living hand to mouth! This same profit motive drives up health insurance costs, just as it does for P & C. Whatever happened to Nobles Oblige?

There should have been one or two lead counsel and a court appointed special master to oversee the settlement process. This entire matter has been a legal charade (as usual)with guess who pocketing the money. As for the average GROSS award of @202,000(before atty fees and costs), it will probably end up being more like $135,000. That will make a real difference in a parentless childs life. Nice job personal injury attorneys.

None, they will sue the light manufacturer for having the audacity to make a light that simply did not last for the life of the attorney and then when they get money from our flawed legal system they will hire someone to change it for them.

why society hates them so much. It might be a good idea in high profile cases such as this to reduce your fees to perhaps 15%.
That would still be more than $26,000,000, surely enough to cover expenses and line their pockets.
