Good grief, no one ever audited the books during this time? Something had to be not right.

…but even so, I think an 11-year sentence would be appropriate: One year served for every year the embezzlement continued.

I agree the punishment should be a long term. If they had done this with a gun it certainly would have been. Why is it so much less criminal if done with a pen?

This ***** stole money and should be required to pay it back IN ADDITION to spending some time in the slammer. Restitution should be part of EVERY such case.

And shame on the jackasses who supposed to manage the business. Where were their audits? They enabled this to happen over a 10 year period and deserve the consequences. What gets me is how people have to gall to pull a stunt like this in the first place. Human garbage!

Too many small business owners are just too trusting of their employees. At an agency I worked for several years ago, there was only one accounting person who wrote the checks using only a stamp of the owner’s signature to sign the checks, entered all the deposits, and reconsiled the monthly statement. No one, not even the owner, ever audited anything. Very, very stupid.

Almost every business owner thinks their employees would never steal. That’s why employees can steal hundreds of billions of dollars each year. Not bad employees, stupid management.

If she were a high powered exec, she’d get fined 10k and put on probation.

“If she were a high powered exec, she’d get fined 10k and put on probation.”

And if she were a politician, stole tens of millions in tax money, and orchestrated the deaths of millions of people, she’d be written up in the history books as one of the greatest people ever, have statues erected to her and be worshiped by the sheeple of the world.
