Whatever we do, we mustn’t reward hard work, sacrifice, and dedication.

The one fireman who passed the test, the one who sued I think, is dyslexic and couldn’t read well enough to study for the test. So he paid someone to read the study guide aloud into a tape recorder for him to listen to.

God forbid that such desire be rewarded. What we really need to do is cater to the latest dreams libtard social engineers.

Maybe the minority fire fighters felt that a written test by itself did not adequately represent their own hard work, sacrifice and dedication.

Should a drivers license be granted based on only written test results or should there also be a driving component?

Should college admissions be based on only SAT scores or should grades, awards, and extracurriculars also be considered?

Whoa, if the guy who passed the test were dyslexic, would he turn the wrong way & head to the wrong fire? Just a thought.

Whatever the criteria, Matt, it should apply to everyone. Equal opportunity can be ensured, but not equal results.

ok, if he had to get someone to read a test to him, how is he really going to handle reading a blueprint? afterall, sometimes they need to know where to go and fight a fire? equality is for everything. as a lt, he’s going to have to write a report, so is he going to have to have someone help him read to help him write? sounds to me, like he’s frustrated but wants everyone to help him w/o he helping himself.

No, that’s the guy in the suit that was decided earlier this year. The guy couldn’t get promoted -no one could- because no black guys passed the test. But you raise a good point!

The newest case involves one of the black guys who failed the test. He’s claiming that because no blacks passed the test, the test is racist or something.

Sounds like some people did not study and some did to me. How can a test be racist? YOu know you are going to be tested and I imagine there is material to go over to prepare for it. So prepare. If you did not pass it was due to your own lack of preparation and applying what you learned.

I can’t cite chapter and verse, but I heard or read that the army lowered its standard for tossing a grenade so that women can qualify.

They reduced the distance one needs to be able to throw a BOMB to pass.

Think about that for a minute…

    Done thinking?

The old standard was, I forget, 50 feet, new standard was something like fifteen feet, but it was WITHIN THE KILL ZONE of the grenade. This means that the female grenade thrower would be within the kill zone when it went off.

Someone please tell me, Why is it that a black man cant pass the same written test as a white man? Dont call me a racist, its the black man filing this suit claiming he is unable to pass the same test a white man can pass.

We have a black president now, cant we all agree we are equal now?

Al, I don’t think women have been approved for “front line duty”. And there could be great discussions regarding women who can chuck a ball far & fast. But regardless of that fact, if there are physical or mental needs of a position, the person should be able to prove that they can fulfill those needs. If my apt is burning & I am trapped inside, I want to know that the person who can help me is mentally & physically able to. Ditto with the police, construction, armed forces, etc.
