An afternoon fire has destroyed a 123-year-old farmhouse in the northern Maine town of Winn.
No injuries were reported in the fire that broke out last week when a pregnant woman who was frying chicken for her son’s 17th birthday left the house to chase a loose horse and the chicken started to burn.
Megan Plaisted told the Bangor Daily News that she and a friend chased the horse for some time. After they finally got it into the barn, they turned around and saw that the house was on fire.
Firefighters from Mattawamkeag, Lincoln, Lee and Medway were called in, but were unable to save the dwelling.
