Our industry has been harboring this type of criminal way to long. And yes, for all those until provent guilty folks I agree it needs to been proven. It’s just that I’ve seen unethical agents pull some bad tricks and get away with it for a long time. I would like to see the industry involved in a lot more self regulation to avoid the fed coming in as in the case of the securities dealers mandates.
    Let’s all clean it up.

If NY is anything like California, he’ll be right back at it in a year or so.

A local agent had his license suspended for taking money and not placing coverage, providing false documents, etc. to the clients. In one case, he has an automatic withdrawal authorization and too $200+ from the same guy, month after month.

That was in 2005. Here we are in 2008, the guy’s license is reinstated and he is doing business again. If I was a new victim of his, I would sue the D.O.I. for ever giving him his license back.

AMEN TO dirty Rotten Scoundrels comments!!
Pa. is clearly guilty of same… I have personal experience w a scoundrel who has committed fraud & been found guilty/incl. Lisc. suspension numerous times only to repeatedly recv. Lisc back “under supervision” ? Trust me this guy has NO Conscience -Its outrageous & an insult to the Profession. Agree 100% the DOI needs to assume some of the liability for putting crooks back into the work force…

I can’t believe they would allow someone to continue to work after they have committed such crimes. I feel for the people who trust others everyday with their hard earned money only for the Powers That Be to allow them to slap us in the face. I’m disgusted with thought that I could pay a monthly premium and not have valid coverage. I’m scared for me and others who have no idea until it’s to late.

Texas is the same even worse. The law in the State is that any cases involving insurance fraud MUST BE handled by the Dept of Insurance and in a court in Travis County (home of State Capital). I know of a case where a grand jury was on the verge of indicting an agent who had misappropriated large sums and left insureds to fend for themselves, and carriers unpaid. Just at the moment it looked like he would be arrested and put away… the State stepped in, and claimed jurisdiction because that grand jury was not in Travis County.. and moved all matters to Travis county… where today..more than a year later NOTHING has been done.. AND the agent still has a license and continues to operate.
