You’re very, very close. If men do it, they just don’t call it gossip.

Men are authoritative – where women are considered bitc*y.

I work for a vice president of a large corporation and he brags about how he likes to start rumors/gossip just to see how fast it spreads.

So, don’t tell me men don’t gossip.

In my own experience men get away with not calling our “strategic communications trees” gossip because we mostly talk about work-related items when we gossip. We also tend not to openly solicit gossip, it’s more tacit. The women I’ve worked with have almost all openly asked for “the gossip”, “the juice” or whatever else they want to call it. They are also more actively interested in the personal goings on of coworkers than men are. Men want to know who is brokering what deal, where the strategic advantage lies and how can we profit. Women want to know who is getting married, who is having an affair and who is having surgery.

    Just my experience.

Also, remember these women were spreading rumors across the WHOLE TOWN!!

ITs a fact that through out the day men speak on average 1000 less words than women.

    Lastbat honey,

Where I work – the men tell all of that and know BEFORE MOST of the women! It’s not strategy it’s GOSSIP. My former boss liked to spread tales too and then blindside people at eval time with stuff he started on the floor. He knew very well that the rumors would get out of control and demoralize people but did he care? H*ll to the No! This is a MAN mind you.

I have to admit that the settlement was much more reasonable then most I’ve seen the courts hand out. Only $65k/person and both sides agreed to play nice.

    Absolutely astounding.
