This is huge black eye to the entire leadership of the FDNY. How can the much touted department have been so careless and lax to allow something like this to happen? And what’s the net consequence? Nothing to the higher ups, and a “re-assignment” of three captains. Nobody lost their lucrative job or pension. Two poor souls lost their lives. And now that the proverbial horse it out of the barn, the FDNY tightens it’s procedures. Hell of a price to pay for studipity.
