Many people do not understand what their insurance does and does not cover, and are unwilling to even attempt to familiarize themselves with their policies. But you\’d have to be living under a rock to not know that you have to buy flood coverage from FEMA. For years, I\’ve seen reports on the evening news about people in various parts of the country whose homes were flooded and they DID NOT HAVE FLOOD INSURANCE. If I were unfamiliar with insurance, I would call my agent first thing the next morning and the first thing I would do is call my agent and ask him/her about flood coverage.
