Other areas were terribly devastated, but by the hurricane (Katrina). The City of New Orleans, however, was merely brushed by the storm but destroyed by the Federal levee system that utterly failed, with 28 beaches. This was a debacle that wasn’t just foreseeable, it was foreseen and entirely preventable. Let’s hope that the all the other below-par Federal levees (from Sacramento, CA to the east coast) are brought up to performance standards so that no other communities will have to bear the terrible loss of life and property NOLA did. Why are you so angry with people who have lost so much?

Thank goodness that no other areas outside of New Orleans were devastated!
