This is a new system that is all for the insurance company saving money. It is our bodies why don’t we have a choice in who provides medical treatment. I have audiotaped and video taped court apt doctors who have LIED in there reports. Why not allow the injured worker to pick their doctor. This way the insurance company and the lawyers are x’d out of the deal and the injured worker gets the proper treatment! And no more dueling doctors. PROBLEM SLOVED. I have been in the Oklahoma workers comp system for 2 years. I was off work for 18 months. I have never received any pay/benefits for the 18 months that I was off and the only medical treatment that has been paid for is the 3 IMEs that the workers comp (self paid) insurance has paid. The workrs comp judge in my case has ordered the insurance company to pay and provid treatment. However they have not. We went to trial over 14 months ago. Workmans comp insurance ajustor turned over several of my medical bills ( that are from the work injury) over collections, even some from a WC court apt doctor. I was given restrictions and told to go back to work within those restrictions. MY EMPLOYER refused to hire me back on restrictions. I applied for every job there at my employers hospital, and 2 of the jobs I could physically do and they still refused, three times I called or went in and asked to be given a job. I had to choose between buying toothpast or tolite paper, and between new school shoes for my child or my medications. We went a few months with my kids telling me they were hungery, I applied for food stamps, walfare, SSD. Only to be told that my husband made to much money to qualifey and that I was disabled but not enough and was still able to work a lesser job. But no one would hire me? We could barley pay our bills, most of which were late. Wal-mart would not even hire me. I at times spent grocey money on gas looking for a job. I have a college education. We had no extras. After 10 months of being on restrictions and looking for a job, I found a job within my restrictions with a new employer. I now able to pay for the medical testing my personal doctor requested 18 months ago. I now work to pay for my medical treatment. I owe 7,000 dollers in unpaid medical plus the ongoing treatment. I make less money now and have the added burden of constant pain, burning and numbness. How is this new system going to help ME the injured worker the one it is supposed to protect? I have no rights as it is. Why do we even have this system? If the employers were no longer allowed to self insure than that would save a lot of money and lives. Why not fix the problem. I was 28 years old when I got injured. To date I am owed 35,000 dollars in back pay and medical expenses not counting my current treatment. I was forced to get an attorney and still it is not enough. Untill the insurance companys and doctors that commit fraud are held responsible for their actions, the system will reamin broken….. The nurse that once was.
