A good ole Mississippi flood would prove the levees are discrepant. Let’s wait for that and then do the balance sheet. New Orleans all over again. Suck it up St Louis and pay the premium or rebuild the levees.

I find this but yet another attempt to fund gov’t programs that have been raped in the past and depleted when it was actually called upon (Katrina).

    3. FEMA has acted to de-accredit area levee systems despite thorough annual and periodic inspections by the Corps of Engineers indicating that the levee systems are in acceptable condition and will “perform as expected,” an action that is unprecedented

The very fact that levies protect the area indicates they’re in a flood prone area. Oh I forgot, man-made structures never fail.

since the designs of the levies back in the 1940’s, the Corp of Eng, has kept accreditation that they are still valid and hold. YET FEMA, who are not engineers are stating that it’s not a holdable levee. wondering who is holding there hand through this mess, because they are running out of money. sounds like they need to talk to CONGRESS, because that is where there budget comes from and not the flooding taxpayer. if the CoE (Corp of ENG) finds that these levees are outdate and need to be replaced, then the gov’t needs to find funding to remove and replace with better levees.

The Army Corp of Engineers agreed the design has faults. Read the article. This is a flood prone area which is why they have the levies. The area should be designated a flood zone and they should pay their share and start building appropriately to avoid more money having to be spent to rebuild.
