Eleven people have died since February in the Tampa Bay area because of wrong way crashes, and area law enforcement officers are trying to prevent more deaths.
WFLA reports that Florida Department of Transportation officials say new beacons will be placed along the exit ramps of bay-area interstates.
The beacons have radars that detect wrong way drivers.
Once detected, a sign will begin flashing and a picture of the car will be sent to FDOT and Florida Highway Patrol. The first of 80 beacons have been installed.
