State Farm Names States With Most Wind and Hail Losses

State Farm reported damage caused by wind and hail cost the company and its policyholders more than $3.2 billion in 2010. The states with the most wind/hail losses include:

  • Illinois —44,000 claims, average cost per claim $8,150
  • Texas —36,000 claims, average cost per claim $9,427
  • Georgia —23,000 claims, average cost per claim $6,362
  • Oklahoma —21,000 claims, average cost per claim $13,893
  • Ohio —20,000 claims, average cost per claim $8,571
