Missouri’s assistant state fire marshal has been chosen to serve as the acting state fire marshal.
Gov. Jay Nixon elevated Greg Carrell to replace Randy Cole, who was fire marshal from 2005 until his retirement last week.
Carrell has been the assistant fire marshal since 2005 and has worked for the state Division of Fire Safety since 1986. He was previously a police officer in St. James.
The fire marshal’s office investigates fires throughout Missouri and operates programs for firefighter training and fire safety inspections. It also is responsible for programs on with elevator safety, amusement ride safety, pressure vessel safety and fireworks licensing.
