Georgia Health Officials Get Funding for Injury Prevention

Health officials in Georgia have received nearly $700,000 in funding to continue four injury prevention projects in 2011.

The money given to the Department of Community Health comes from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. The four programs to benefit are:

• The Crash Outcome Data Evaluation System Support Project, which helps link crash data and other injury data to help identify opportunities for prevention.

• The Older Driver Safety Program, which aims to reduce vehicle-related injuries and fatalities for older drivers.

• The Rural Roads Drive Alive Project Southeast, which works to improve safety on rural and non-interstate roads in Southeast Georgia.

• The Child Occupant Safety Project, which strives to ensure that all Georgia’s children are safe while riding in motor vehicles.
