Risk of Bank Robbery Highest on Tuesdays, Says FBI

Bank crimes most frequently occur on Tuesdays. Regardless of the day, the time frame when bank crimes happen most frequently is between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m

That’s according to the FBI, which just released a report showing that during the fourth quarter of 2009, there were 1,312 reported violations of the Federal Bank Robbery and Incidental Crimes Statue, a decrease from the 1,649 reported in the same quarter of 2008. There were 1,294 robberies, 16 burglaries, and two larcenies of financial institutions reported between Oct. 1, 2009 and Dec.31, 2009. No extortions were reported during the quarter.

The statistics were recorded as of Jan. 19, 2010. Not all bank crimes are reported to the FBI, so the report is not a complete statistical compilation of all bank crimes in the U.S.
