Loans Available for Tornado Victims in Illinois

Victims of 15 weekend tornadoes that battered central Illinois are eligible for low-interest disaster recovery loans.

The Illinois Treasurer’s office says the loan programs get below-market interest rates for people in disaster areas who use participating lenders.

Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn has declared Livingston, Putnam, LaSalle and Peoria counties disaster areas.

The treasurer’s office says people can get one-year bridge loans for repairs where they pay only the interest until they collect their insurance reimbursement.

The state says loans with longer repayment terms are also available for people who don’t have enough insurance or other aid to cover their losses.
