Tornadoes Damage Southern Iowa

At least two tornadoes have ripped across southern and eastern Iowa, with damage reported to a few homes and businesses. No injuries have been reported.

Bill Nichols, a forecaster with the National Weather Service, says a tornado caused minor to moderate damage Thursday in southeastern Iowa. The twister formed near Keosauqua and went northeast to Washington. Nichols says a survey team will assess the damage Friday.

Earlier in the day, another tornado caused minor damage in southern Iowa.

Wayne County Emergency Management Coordinator Bill Yeager says a twister tore the roof off a house east of Seymour and downed some power lines.

The National Weather Service says it also received reports of damage in Appanoose County, though details of the damage are unavailable.
