Officials at the William H. Hall Free library in Cranston, R.I., say they likely will have to replace stolen metal railings with wood.
The railings, made from a brass-copper composite, were stolen from stairs leading to the library’s front and rear doors two weeks ago. No arrests have been made.
The Providence Journal reports officials are still waiting for an insurance agent to put a value on the railings.
But Merideth Curran, the president of the library’s board of trustees, says it is not likely the group will be able to afford brass or copper railings.
