A Penns Grove, New Jersey kindergartner let off at the wrong address will get $13,000 for the emotional distress it caused.
The family of Jamar Johnson Jr. reached the settlement with the Wyshinski Bus Service after the 5-year-old boy was dropped off at the wrong place last September.
The student at Lafayette-Pershing Elementary School was let off about a mile from his home despite a tear-filled plea with the bus driver.
The boy’s mother, Adriane Allen, says her son was left in a place he had never been and he had no idea how to get home. She says he wandered around for more than an hour before someone found him.
As a result, she says he suffered post traumatic stress disorder and still refuses to ride a school bus.
School district superintendent Joseph Massare says the incident was an unfortunate wrinkle on one of the first days of school but was soon ironed out.
