Florida Officials say a construction worker was killed after walking into the path of a tractor-trailer on Interstate 75 near Fort Myers.
The Florida Highway Patrol says 36-year-old Ruben Garcia-Serrano’s fatal accident occurred early Friday morning. The Orlando man was working for Leware Construction Company near mile marker 135 as part of a concrete crew.
The impact caused Garcia-Serrano to be thrown through the air, and he was dead by the time rescuers arrived.
FHP says the semi driver was sober and traveling under the speed limit.
No charges will be filed, but the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration will inspect the worksite.
