January 5, 2012

Sixteen people sustained mainly minor injuries when a Greyhound bus collided with a street sweeper on Interstate 40 eastbound in Oklahoma City.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the crash occurred at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday when the bus changed lanes into the street sweeper. The bus driver and two passengers were admitted to a hospital, all in fair condition. The rest were treated and released. There were about 45 people on the bus.

The crash report says the sweeper was going about 10 mph with its flashing arrow board lit when the bus changed lanes into the vehicle. The bus driver was pinned for about 45 minutes until firefighters were able to get her out.

The Highway Patrol says traffic was blocked on I-40 eastbound for several hours.
