A former San Antonio standout high school wide receiver who played at North Texas has died following a one-vehicle rollover accident in South Texas.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says 22-year-old Sam Dibrell died Monday after a wreck about 10 miles south of Freer.
DPS Trooper Ruben Soliz says Dibrell was alone in the vehicle when the SUV veered to the right, skidded and rolled several times. Dibrell was pronounced dead at a Corpus Christi hospital.
Dibrell, as a senior, helped lead Alamo Heights High School to a 2006 state football title.
Dibrell played two seasons at UNT.
