Prosecutors say a series of robberies by a suspect called the “fake beard robber” cost stores in Hampton Roads, Va., more than $47,000.
A federal grand jury on Wednesday indicted 38-year-old Ronald Wayne Carr of Newport News on charges of interference with commerce by robbery.
U.S. Attorney Neil H. MacBride says Carr is accused of robbing 28 stores and restaurants in Hampton, Newport News and York County from Dec. 18, 2010, through Nov. 16, 2012.
The suspect in the robberies wore a fake beard.
