    Perhaps we should have added on the key-card covers, “we care about you so just in case…” to soften that up a little. Otherwise, as a traveler of the coast myself, I appreciate help in saving my life. I say this key cover will not stop people from enjoying the beautiful Oregon coast.

    I expect all the big hotels have implemented this, especially those owned by organizations big enough to be impacted by the lawsuits that would ensue if a tsunami hit and they had not. Perhaps the small mom and pop businesses who have minimal assets to lose once their property is decimated by a tsunami don’t see the need. If they don’t exist after a tsunami and thus there are no pockets to hit, lawsuits are less likely.
