Colorado Governor Issues Flood Recovery Report

October 10, 2014

Gov. John Hickenlooper and the Colorado Recovery Office have released a review of the recovery efforts for the September 2013 floods.

The report covers lessons learned and continuing recovery efforts.

State officials say the flooding took 10 lives, forced more than 18,000 people from their homes, destroyed critical roads and bridges and caused an estimated $3 billion in damage.

The report released Monday cites accomplishments including rebuilding highways and providing aid to people affected by the floods, and urges the development of more affordable housing and supporting business recovery.
