PBS Hawaii to Reopen Restored Studio After Fire

June 12, 2012

PBS Hawaii is reopening a newly restored television studio that was damaged in a fire seven months ago.

Kahu Kawika Kahiapo, a PBS Hawaii Board Member and Na Hoku Hanohano Award-winning musical artist, will be blessing the studio on Monday.

The station will air its first live broadcast from the new studio Monday night.

The November fire started when a studio light blew out and the flames spread to ceiling insulation.

PBS Hawaii CEO Leslie Wilcox says insurance covered the cost of the restoration work.
