Settlement Reached in 2007 Washington Copter Crash

March 5, 2012

A confidential settlement has been reached in the case of a 2007 Washington helicopter crash that killed four people and ignited a 485-acre forest fire.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reports the settlement comes just days before jury selection began in a lawsuit in King County.

The lawsuit was filed in 2009 by the family of Si Young Lee, the president of a South Korean lumber company visiting the state to purchase timber for export, contended design flaws in the R44 helicopter led to the crash and that its fuel tanks should not have erupted on impact. All four occupants burned to death.
