The owner gets a citation for leash law, really. Did the anchor woman get one for stupidity ? To get in a strange animals face especially after such a traumatic experience. C,mon. Admit that all of you made mistakes and chalk it up to experience and revoke the citation.

I watched the video and I can honestly say this was 100% human error. I am sorry to hear the dog may pay the ultimate price for this huge mistake. I would also say the bite wasn’t vicious as reports are stating, if it were vicious the reporters injuries would be much worse, he lunged, gave her a small bite and let go, we so often forget how much damage a dog can do, and how much they choose not to do. You could see the dog was tense, uncomfortable yet she chose to put her face in a strange dogs face, not the best idea. I feel badly for her yes, alas this is not the dogs fault.

I saw an idiot grab the bottom of the dogs jaw and put her face into his and acted as all dogs would in that situation. Just a little bit of an overreaction by the morons.

This unfortunate accident was not the dog’s fault. Why would she put her face so close to a dog she didn’t know, especially a dog that had been through a terrible trauma. He saw her as a threat and didn’t know what she was going to do – she’s not too smart! Don’t punish the dog for her stupidity

The media paraded Max in front of lights and cameras, in an effort to show how wonderful people are (well, at least one brave firefighter). And now Max’s fate is being decided because he, an animal, was unprepared (go figure) to handle all these new situations. Tell the interviewer, and all future ones, to ‘get a grip’ and respect the dog’s space. Now we lovely humans are going to probably euthanize (kill) the dog we were so proud to save, we made a spectacle of him. What a travesty!

I can’t believe you idiots are defending another “pit bull” attack. This wasn’t a simple “bite”. As usual, it was a vicious mauling by a breed that isn’t safe in social situations. Now a woman’s life will be changed forever. Normal dogs might have “snapped” at her, but these dogs are intent on doing severe damage. I doubt any of you have handled a pit bull claim. Unfortunately, I have handled many. The injuries are ALWAYS severe and seemingly un-provoked. Nobody should have to be expose to that kind of risk. Apparently, the moronic owner allowed the dog to appear on the TV show thinking everything would be OK.

Jester, if you have handled so many pit bulls you should know that the dog in question is a purebred Argentine Dogo….

It’s a mastiff, not a pit bull; very different dog. Don’t put your face somewhere it doesnt belong. AND dogs only get these horrible reputations from the way the OWNER RAISES the dog. I have had pitbulls, rottweilers, and dobermans my whole life, they have all been the sweetest dog you ever met. Blame people, not the dog.

The news anchor should have been a little more careful. But then again, the dog just let a complete stranger pull it to safety and didn’t bite him.

I’d see if the dog has previous complaints of viciousness before making the decision whether to put it down or not.

Perhaps Max (the rescued dog) was stressed enough from his chasing and rescue episode. Maybe Max just wanted to go home and rest. And, maybe Max did not need all the media attention.
Animals do give people signs that they’re stressed..Dyer, along with Max’s ‘owner’ were not really paying attention to what Max needed. Because, it is most likely Max gave them small signs of wanting to be left alone—Did anyone listen? Looks like they did not…And Max is one who may have been euthanized for human error.
