Wyoming Fire Grows to About 200 Acres

August 19, 2011

Federal and local firefighters are battling a wildfire 45 miles south of Rock Springs.

The Bureau of Land Management said the fire had grown to between 200 and 250 acres by Wednesday night. It expects to have it fully contained by Friday.

The fire is burning on grass, sagebrush and juniper on both private and federal land. The BLM says firefighters are working to fully suppress the fire because the land is a designated sage-grouse core area.
