    $200.00…..sorry, that’s all.

If not, my pet cockroach is worth about a million!

Being a dog owner and lover, I’m sorry for this woman’s loss. However if she had $10K to pay for doggy day care and other items in the past 5 or so years, perhaps she should have used that money for health insurance (and the psychiatric counseling she so clearly needs now, will need in the future when her lawsuit is dismissed and and needed before the accident proven by paying $10000 for dog related expenses). Go get a shelter dog/pound puppy. They are awesome.

This womans sounds unstable. She’s entitled to the $200 she paid for the dog and maybe vet bills to maintain it. As for the daycare costs, she got her value out of that investment. No way this claims is worth $30,000. If the mutt got hit by a car she’d get nothing. The day the courts start putting animals on par with humans for purposes of compensation we’re all in trouble.

Jester, you are a cold hearted idiot. At least it wasn’t a 5 year old child out there playing that got electrocuted, but still, pets to some people are like children. Hopefully you don;t have either as cold as you are!

I have my father’s lazy boy chair in my living room which I got when he passed away. There is extreme emotional value attached to that chair and if it was stolen or damaged in a fire does that mean I could try for big bucks?
I understand the emotional attachment to a dog (I’ve had both dogs and cats), but they are pets, not children and have short lives normally. Perhaps they can sue the breeders also for not breeding a longer life into them. It’s nonsense.

I am amazed at the numerous heartless comments – obviously posted by persons that are not fortunate enough to live with an animal to experience the unconditional love that they bestow on us non-stop. My heart goes out to these dog owners who just lost theirs. I know that it feels like part of you heart and soul was taken from you. My deepest sympathy. One dog lover in Petaluma

Please let’s remember that this is not a forum for politics, but rather insurance issues. Disparaging certain religions is just not productive. We’re blogging about, in my opinion, this lady’s inane lawsuit, not about whether certain people have more value or rights of life than another. It’s just not relevent.

Putting emotional isuues aside, even if pets were considered more than personal property by many, $60K for the suit is not commisserate with the alleged damages.
