    Sure this is a great headline, but the carriers do what they want, to some extent. I’m sure the carriers would love to raise prices by 50% but they only do that when they think they can get away with it. Some do this now. Always a carrier playing aggressively, always a carrier dishing out the highest price. A business strategy is to find out who the players are and find out who has got the deal.

    Agreed, regardless of how inadequate the loss costs are, there is a carrier who figures they have it all figured out and will be dirt cheap. I predict a couple carriers will not survive.

    Poizner is rejecting this for strictly political reasons, so he can boast “no rate increases” during my tenure. There are two BIG problems with the CA commissioners office. 1- It should be an appointed, not elected position. 2- The commissioner should be REQUIRED to have a minimum of 5 years insurance experience. Until, that happens this office will only be a stepping stone to the next office.
